Kitchen Savings Part 2!! Kitchen Savings is going to be our focus for the next few days in our Frugal Tips section.  Saving money in the kitchen is easy as pie if you put your mind to it and are ready to shave a few cents off of your budget each month.

Saving plastic sandwich bags by washing, rinsing and reusing until they have holes in them or until they ripped is a great money saver.  Set a price per bag that you will stock up on baggies and reuse them in other areas of your house as well.  They usually dry overnight if you put them over something like the dishsoap bottle.   The only bags I throw away right away are the bags I have used to store meat in. I am a worry wart when it comes to that and don’t want to take the risk.

Clip your coupons.  Clip your coupons, pair them with a sale and your savings will sky-rocket.  Start out small and set a savings goal.  Say $50 a month that is equal to $600 a year!!

Savings in the produce section is even possible especially during the spring and summer months. Shop local farmers markets and produce stands to get the best prices. Don’t forget to bargain for your best price because most places will bargain down on the price.  The worst thing they can tell you is no and that is acceptable as well.

Buy fruit in bulk and eat what you can before it turns “bad”.  Freeze, dry, or can the others and use it in pies, cobblers, smoothies and more!

Vegetables–Save your leftover vegetables for vegetable soup.  Just throw them into the freezer and then when it is time for vegetable soup you are saving because you aren’t opening a can of vegetables to cook.
