Smart Strip Surge Protector Review & Giveaway!

bits limited smart strip, smart strip

Have you guys heard of the Bits Limited Smart Strip Surge Protector? And, did you know that a surge protector could save you money by saving energy? Yes, you read that right! I am trying a Smart Strip out right now and I am very impressed with it! It is not only a surge protector, it can literally save you money on your electric bill just by having your items plugged into it! We all use surge protectors so why not save money and energy with the smart Strip? Especially when all you have to do is plug your equipment in and let it do it’s thing! How cool is that? After the electric bill I received this past month, anything that can knock it down, I’m all for it!

The Bits Limited Smart Strip saves energy, which means it saves you money, on things such as office equipment and home entertainment systems. I know most people don’t realize things use electricity just by being plugged in, whether they are being used or not, but they do. Why waste that energy or the money?

I know my first thought was my computer system! I have computers, printers and other equipment that I use. Lets face it! It would be a big hassle to unplug everything when I wasn’t using it. So, I don’t know about you guys, but my printers and other items stay on all the time. That’s just the way it is. At the same time, that means they are continually sucking up juice and dollars for doing nothing. Well, with the Smart Strip, I can stop wasting that energy and my money! All I have to do is plug my computer in a certain plug and then each time I turn it on it will activate my other equipment to turn on also! Otherwise, they remain off.

Bits Limited sent me some pretty cool little party lights to help demonstrate what exactly happens. I couldn’t take the picture with the bulbs lit up, it was just to bright. But stay with me just a moment and I will explain what happens. It is so cool!

If you can see on this Smart Strip, there are two red outlets. These are where you would plug something in that needs constant energy such as a cable box, satellite receiver, fax machine or alarm clock. These outlets will only turn off with the switch.

There is one blue outlet, which is the control outlet. This is where you would plug in something such as your computer or TV. If the device that is plugged in here is switched on, it automatically turns the devices that are plugged into the green outlets on. If it is switched off, it will turn the ones plugged in the green outlets off.

There are several green outlets on the the Smart Strip. This is where you would plug in your accessories such as a printer or TV that doesn’t need constant energy. They remain off until activated, saving you money until they are needed.

So, not only is the Smart Strip a surge protector it saves energy and money! It also lets you know when it has been degraded by power surges so that you can replace it. Now that is what I call a Smart Strip!!! The particular Smart Strip I am trying out says it will save over $39 a year. I am sure that can vary with each family and with what you have plugged into it. Personally, I haven’t tried it for a whole year yet, so I can’t exactly vouch for a particular savings amount. But, I use a surge protector for my computer equipment and my TV/stereo equipment. It only makes good sense to use one that will save energy and money at the same time! Not only would the Bits Limited Smart Strip be good for your home, just think of the energy and savings in an office setting!

You can purchase the Smart Strip for around $30 online at Bits Limited. For all the latest news and updates check them out on Facebook or follow them on Twitter!
