Copy-Kids | Getting Kids to Eat Fruits & Vegetables Review

Copy-Kids has an awesome video called Copy-Kids Eat Fruits and Vegetables. I wanted to try this video out with my grandbaby Kailey, which is 3 years old, to see how it worked. We all know getting kids to eat vegetables is not always easy to do! Fruits maybe, vegetables no! For some reason, kids get the  idea they don’t like something before they even try it out. Well, the main idea of the Copy-Kids video is that they watch other kids eating the fruits and vegetables. When they see the other kids eating, liking and enjoying the veggies they want to try them out also! The video makes it fun for them. It makes them at least want to give it a try.

The Copy-Kids DVD is divided into 12 chapters, with each part being approximately 6-8 minutes long. It shows them trying an assortment of vegetables and fruits such as: carrots, bell pepper, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges, avocado, blueberries, and more. Kids will copy other kids, it’s just in their nature. So, by seeing the other kids eating their veggies and enjoying them they want to try them also. It’s a pretty neat concept and a great way to get them to at least try vegetables and fruits out!

Before starting the video, be sure and have an assortment of vegetables and fruit on hand for them to try out! What we did was put the video in. Then we fixed ourselves a plate with the different veggies on it and started nibbling on them. It didn’t take long before Kailey came over and wanted something off the plate. It was kind of awesome to watch the whole concept in action! Seeing it happen was what amazed me! We hadn’t said a word to her. We just let her do her own thing watching it. At her age, she is really picking up on what the other kids are doing. In the end there were still a couple,  like the brocolli and bell pepper, that she just wasn’t fond of. But otherwise, it went really well! The cucumbers were one vegetable that she will eat now that she absolutely wouldn’t touch before. Getting kids to eat vegetables and fruit is really easy using the Copy-Kids DVD! I just wish I had this DVD when her mother was younger!

The age recommendation for the video is 6 months to 5 years old.  The DVD also features an interview with renowned pediatrician Dr. Jay Gordon, MD, FAAP, author of Good Food Today, Great Kids Tomorrow. He talks about childhood overweight and obesity, suggests ways that parents can get their children to make healthier food choices, and explains why Copy-Kids is such a powerful idea, noting “That’s just the way kids are, they love to copy other kids.”
