Things are starting to pick up in the garden here! It is growing and we actually have our first fruits coming off already! Once, it is in full stream we will start seeing the savings on all those veggies
So, I am excited to show you a few updates:
We have a lot of baby cucumbers and some are getting ready to pick and eat! The squash is finally putting on fruit! You can still see the big yellow bloom on the end of the baby squash there.
I had to get into the middle of the zuchinni plant to grab the picture, but you can see they growing and some are even ready to eat! Actually, we are cooking up a few tonight
The tomatoes are coming along good also. They are growing and getting bigger. The cherry tomatoes are just loaded with little green tomatoes! I am drooling just thinking about those juicy sweet bites!!
Again, I had to get into the middle of the plant to grab the pictures, but you can see the bell peppers are getting bigger! And, we have already picked some of the jalapenos! The jalapenos are still are not producing fast enough to dehydrate any yet, but we also use them cook with as we go! Once they are coming off faster, we will have some ways of dehydrating and canning them for you
Finally we have okra plants! They have had a rough go of it! First, we planted and it rained so hard, it washed them all away. So, we had to replant. Now, they are just starting to grow good. But, one of our munchin furbabies decided to dig up a few of the plants! Molly, the one with the dirt on her nose, is our newest furbaby and doesn’t quite understand the rule of staying out of the garden yet. We have to work on that a bit
It doesn’t look like a lot, but this is our first pickings from the garden! Tonight we picked three zucchini, a couple of cucumbers (not real big yet), and a few jalapeno peppers! Like I said, we are cooking up the zucchini tonight. We also sliced up the cucumbers. I like to eat them with ranch dip, but hubby prefers them with salt and pepper. It won’t be long before we will have some garden recipes and canning recipes for you!
So far, we haven’t had any critter problems to speak of. We also haven’t had a lot of weeds, just a few here and there which were easily pulled out, and bit of grass we had to deal with. We have a solution for that grass problem though. Be sure and stay tuned, because I am sure we are going to need that solution before the summer is over!! The only thing we are having to keep up with is the watering. Seems when you need rain, it just doesn’t happen
The fruit trees are just chilling and growing, so I am leaving them out this week. All we can do is wait on them to grow at this point.

This is Awesome and not to mention a real money saver and you know for a fact how it was grown and don’t have to worry about any pesticides or unnatural products that went into growing them. Great Idea!! Enjoy the ‘Fruits’ of your labor ☺
